As we enter our next stage of growth, Spiffy is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. This individual will work closely with the Corporate Controller and Assistant Controller and will play a crucial role in the day-to-day financial operations, contributing to the overall accuracy of the Company’s financial reporting structure. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in a successful and rapidly growing venture-backed company.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full process of accounts payable, including the processing and payment of vendor invoices and employee expenses
  • Assist with the matching of bank transactions to G/L transactions, ensuring all cash payments and receipts are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation
  • Reconcile bank statements to the GL and investigate discrepancies
  • Develop and implement policy and process improvements related to the accounts payable and cash processes
  • Review vendor bills and credit card expenses for accuracy, classification, cutoff, and payment terms
  • Match vendor bills to purchase orders and investigate differences
  • Reconcile vendor and credit card payable balances to statements to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Reconcile accounts payable subledger to GL and investigate discrepancies and unusual balances
  • Perform monthly analysis to identify and record accruals for vendor bills not yet received
  • Own month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts payable and cash
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries and requests from vendors and employees
  • Communicate with vendors and employees regarding invoice and payment discrepancies
  • Maintain vendor master data, including the vendor information, payment terms, credit limits, and contact details, and assist with the annual Form 1099 filing process
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the preparation of weekly cash forecasts and monitor actual cash flows against forecasted amounts, investigating significant variances
  • Generate accounts payable reports, aging analyses, and other financial reports as needed for management and audit purposes

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in GL accounting, including high-volume accounts payable processing
  • College degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
