As a Sr. Software Architect - Embedded Tools for Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Cary, NC, Moline, IL, or Urbandale, IA, you will...

  • Develop architecture to support the development of tools & scripts for increasing efficiency and user experience in John Deere’s OpenRTOS based embedded software development (Emb32-OS)
  • Lead innovation efforts to define the next generation of tools used by the entire embedded development community at Deere
  • Embrace role of technical coach for the team by providing expert advice in software development along with fostering knowledge sharing topics
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders through user support
  • Communicate with team members, architects, and stakeholders to gather project requirements in order to design solutions for advanced features.

What Skills You Need

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with embedded software development workflow from requirements to machine validation using Real Time Operating System (RTOS) or Embedded OS.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software product delivery using agile software development processes
  • Strong programming skills with Embedded C and scripting languages.
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective technical leader
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on project

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with C#, Linux, and/or DevOps practices and tools
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented software design
  • Ability to program using Python, Perl, JavaScript
  • Hands-on Test-Driven Development (TDD) and software test automation experience.
  • Specialization in SCRUM and Agile software development methodologies
  • Advanced degree in an engineering discipline or computer science

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent embedded systems experience
