Introduction
Red Hat is on a mission to be the catalyst in communities of customers, contributors, and partners creating better technology the open source way. To help fulfill that mission, the User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to tackle complex problems and transform them into experiences within our product portfolio.

**About us **
The UXD team helps make Red Hat products easy—and enjoyable—for all people to use. Our global team of researchers, designers, content designers, and developers work together to bridge the technical world to the human world with intuitive and approachable product experiences. While each of us has unique skills and talents, we all agree that the best ideas come from diverse minds and fresh perspectives. Whether we’re collaboratively supporting Red Hat’s product portfolio, exchanging ideas in upstream communities, or crunching code for PatternFly (Red Hat’s open source design system), our focus on teamwork, empathy, and transparency play a key role in building products our users love.

  • Perform or participate in planning user research to inform or validate design decisions.
  • Understand and communicate the information architecture, workflows, and processes surrounding the user experience.
  • Create mockups, wireframes, and other design deliverables
  • Build relationships with developers to support successful development.
  • Identify usability issues and make solid recommendations for improvement.
  • Actively participate in PatternFly, our community-built design system, as both a user and contributor.
  • Make time for fellow designers to provide feedback and mentorship.

What you will bring

You might be a good fit for this role if:

  • You’re ambitious enough to advocate for a high-quality user experience through every step of the process and across boundaries.
  • You like to collaborate across teams and feel comfortable explaining your ideas and process to other people.
  • You know when and how to use data to inform design decisions.
  • You can adapt to changing situations, needs, or requirements.
  • You have a portfolio of work that demonstrates your process and skills.

    Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in interaction design, visual design, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, or a closely related area
  • 5+ years of experience with designing user experience for applications
  • Proven track record of leading design creation and delivering high-quality results on schedule
  • Ability to adjust leadership style influence, encourage, and challenge others in a variety of situations
