SUMMARY
Are you a recent graduate interested in building real-world graphic design experience in an exciting startup environment? Our tight-knit, in-house Marketing team is seeking a Junior Graphic Designer to support our head of Design, in addition to our marketing strategy at large. The ideal candidate for this job is someone who can be trusted to take charge on a variety of print and digital projects, while responding positively to constructive feedback.
The Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for working alongside the head of Design, creating design solutions that have high visual impact, and helping present our products and services in a breakthrough way. The Junior Graphic Designer will demonstrate creativity, up-to-date knowledge of industry software, and a professional approach to feedback, time, costs, and deadlines. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Graphic Designers with the design of print and digital marketing collateral including ads, brochures, sell sheets, signage, white papers, infographics, etc.)
    • Copy and edit marketing collateral for our sales team and franchisees
  • Maintain graphic standards and brand integrity
  • Create concepts, sketches, layouts, and final designs (under the direction of the head of Design) for a wide variety of projects across digital, print, offline and physical spaces
  • Create weekly digital graphic assets (e.g. email marketing, social media, website, performance marketing ads, etc.)
  • Retouch and manipulate images
  • Create and design branded powerpoint presentations
  • Work with printers’ specifications to prepare files for print
  • Receive feedback from team members and make necessary changes
  • Support the marketing team as needed
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Must-haves:
  • A complete portfolio of work demonstrating your creativity, design knowledge, principles, and process
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design or Digital Design
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience required
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom (required)
  • Strong foundational knowledge and understanding of design principles that shows in your work (composition/layout, color, typography, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of branding and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Excellent design and layout skills with a highly refined aesthetic and artistic vision (strong digital design portfolio a plus)
  • An eye for contemporary design trends with an understanding of how to interpret these trends in an ownable way while maintaining brand integrity
  • Strong skills in MS Powerpoint and Google Slides
  • Willingness to collaborate with other designers and marketers to give and receive thoughtful feedback
  • Positive and respectful response to constructive feedback and a willingness to learn
  • Team player with a good attitude
  • Curious mind, creative problem solver, and ability to brainstorm individually and in a group setting, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent, creative, and detail-oriented in designs
  • Printing and prepress design knowledge
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects at any given time while staying organized
  • Willingness to be present in the office and engage with co-workers
  • This is an on-site position at our HQ in Durham, NC

  • Advertising & Marketing Design knowledge
  • Understanding of Marketing principles
  • Functional knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 (multi-platform UI/UX, web development principles and CMS platforms, e.g. HubSpot, a plus)
