Engineering Team Lead at CureMint
The Engineering Team Lead is a key player at CureMint. They lead by example and help to raise the bar on our standards when it comes to code, documentation, and testing. They help guide engineers in overcoming technical challenges through mentorship, leadership, management, and software development.  As a member of the Product Trio, (A Product Manager, Designer, and Engineering Team Lead), the Engineering Team Lead participates in discovery, solutioning, and refinement activities. They help mitigate risk and ensure the team has the context and resources needed to succeed.   
What you’ll do
You will lead and manage a team of 4-5 engineers through focused product initiatives.  On the leadership side you will help establish strategy and facilitate processes to achieve specific product outcomes and goals.  On the management side you will help the engineers thrive and grow in their positions and careers.  Additionally, you will be a member of the larger growth-oriented engineering team that works together to establish standards and best practices across our codebase.
Responsibilities

  • Participates in initiative strategy conversations
  • Challenges/identifies assumptions being made during the product discovery processes
  • Listens/participates in customer calls
  • Participate in the interactive design sessions where we explore what could be
  • Create high-level system/sub-system flow diagrams of various solutions
  • Validate and invalidate various solutions through technical testing/research
  • Engages in story identification and pre-planning efforts
  • Sanity check on acceptance criteria
  • Clears the path for sprint planning by assisting in the story creation and documentation efforts
  • Adds technical annotations to any design mocks being attached to user stories
  • Engage in context conversations with other engineers
  • Provide the "why" we are doing what we are doing
  • Engage in conversations with other engineers about the "how we might build a given solution"
  • Challenges engineers to provide sufficient detail and ask sufficient questions to really uncover gaps in the solution
  • Provides sanity check on engineering estimations
  • Validates technical soundness of engineering build plans
  • Pair program with engineers and provide them interactive feedback
  • Review github code of other engineers on the team
  • Verify what was built matches what was planned
  • Engage regular 1:1s with your team to ensure their success
  • Set clear goals, metrics, and expectations across your team, product, and features, and be held and hold others accountable
  • Mentor and help evolve more junior engineering team members
  • Jump into code when needed and help push bugs and features across the finish line

    Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineering team lead or manager
  • Experience with our tech stack (ReactJS, Laravel, GraphQL, Node, AWS, Lambda, Docker)
  • A natural curiosity for how things work.  “It’s magic” is not an acceptable answer to them
  • Detail-oriented and think beyond the happy path solution
  • Empathetic and care about other people
  • Capable of delivering critical feedback with compassion
  • Can learn new things quickly
  • Challenge the status quo and are hungry to take action
