Job Summary

NetApp IT supports a large and workload-diverse engineering community. The shared services developer platform is an end-to-end toolchain enabling a DevOps operating model, CI and CI/CD, test automation, release and deploy automation, centralization of controls, etc. It’s designed to be pipeline / language / framework agnostic in order to be extensible across workloads and engineering teams.
We’re looking for an engineering manager to take this platform to the next level. This will be a hands-on managerial role, leading of a team of 6-10 engineers in a lead-from-the-front orientation. We think the best managers are also great engineers that understand the art of the possible, industry patterns and standards, and have a first-hand understanding of what works well and what doesn’t.

Job Requirements

This role will require advanced experience in the following:

  • Automated SDLC orchestration – full lifecycle
  • Version control systems, test automation, release and deploy automation
  • Comprehensive understanding of the AWS ecosystem
  • Developer self-service patterns; high flexibility / extensibility
  • Orchestration and IaC technologies (notably Ansible and Terraform)
  • Operate as the “chief architect” of the Developer Platform
  • Containerization technologies and Kubernetes, Rancher and EKS
  • Build a culture of learning where it’s safe to fail, fail fast, learn from it, and improve
  • Agile development methods / standards
  • Linux and Windows based workloads
  • Both microservices and monolith architectural dispositions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical peers
  • Excellent ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality

Education

  • Extensive experience of both Windows and Linux administration, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong programming ability in at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby, etc)
  • 5+ years experience with a major orchestration technology (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc)
  • 5+ Years of experience managing infra workloads via terraform
  • 4+ years of people management experience
  • 5 + years of experience with enterprise level scale and regulatory oversight, along with regulatory or operational audits (e.g. SOX, SOC ! / II, ISO 27001, etc)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in CompSci or related area of study or equivalent professional experience
